Wing Chun Kung Fu in Uithoorn

04/01/2019

The Martial Arts journey of Sifu Kenneth Lee started in 1984 when, as a young teenager, he trained several years of Pak Mei Kung Fu with the late Sifu Jie Kon Sieuw in the Amsterdam school. After two decades of experiencing a variety of sports, Sifu Kenneth decided it was time to give Martial Arts a try once again. One of the reasons for picking up martial arts again was that his good friend Gordon Cheung had been practicing and teaching the Leung Ting style of Wing Chun as Sifu for many years.

In 2002 after attending a trial lesson with Sifu Benno Wai, a good friend of Sifu Gordon Cheung, the desire to learn and practice Martial Arts was reignited. He was impressed by Sifu Benno Wai’s broad view, knowledge, experience and skills in Wing Chun Kung Fu so, he then joined UCT International.

In 2004, Kenneth passed and received his first UCT International Instructors certificate and he then started to assist and teach UCT Wing Chun Kung Fu at the club's schools in Aalsmeer, Uithoorn, Amstelveen and Amsterdam.

In 2008, Kenneth passed and received from Sifu Benno Wai his first UCT International Technician Grade certificate. This is the Kung Fu equivalent of a black belt and is a test of knowledge, experience, skills and endurance, as well as the ability to teach Wing Chun.  In the same year, Sifu Benno Wai joined Grand Master Wan Kam Leung’s Practical Wing Chun organization. Grand Master Wan Kam Leung, who is based in Hong Kong, has unsurpassed Wing Chun Skills that translate into a very practical method of self-defense. Kenneth was very pleased to have encountered, experienced, learned and practiced with the Grand Master during his annual visits to UCT International Academy in Amsterdam from 2008 to 2010. In 2017 Sifu Kenneth joined Sifu Benno together with an UCT group to visit Grand Master Wan Kam Leung in Hong Kong for an existing martial arts training experience.

In 2013, Kenneth passed and received his first GM Wan Kam Leung Practical Wing Chun Kung Fu Instructor certificate. This allowed him to instruct and teach Wan Kam Leung Practical Wing Chun Kung Fu.

In the summer of 2015, after fourteen years of training with his Sifu Benno Wai, Kenneth Lee was promoted and received his UCT Sifu certificate from Sifu Benno Wai in Malaga (Spain). Now, Sifu Kenneth Lee is continuing the legacy of UCT Practical Wing Chun Kung Fu which was passed on to him by Sifu Benno Wai. In the same year, Sifu Kenneth opened his own school in Uithoorn to pass on his UCT Practical Wing Chun and Jing Wu Kids Kung Fu knowledge to students of his own. Soon Sifu Kenneth will start and open a new teaching location for Jing Wu Kids Kung Fu in Amstelveen.

And so, in the traditional manner of study, practice and dedication, the UCT International Practical Wing Chun and Jing Wu Kids Kung Fu legacy continues.
